Key Stage 3

Our Foundations (Key Stage 3) curriculum runs from Year 7 to Year 9. The core curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum but is not bound by its constraints. Instead, we apply the most appropriate elements and enhance students' learning through units of study specifically designed to stretch them academically and personally and to lay solid foundations for future success.

The Key Stage 3 curriculum builds on the knowledge and skills developed at primary schools so that students are able to make rapid progress. The inspiring content of the Key Stage 3 curriculum encourages students to become more inquisitive learners and as a result they know more, can do more and remember more about each of their subjects.

We have offered a full three year KS3 programme, enabling to learners to keep their options as broad as possible ahead of the GCSE choices made during Year 9. In addition to the core subjects of Mathematics, Science and English, learners experience a wide range of subjects at KS3, including: Music, Art, Drama/Dance, Physical Education, History, Geography, Religious Education, Personal Development, French and/or German and a range of Technology subjects.

During KS3, students will have 25 taught hours per week. They are timetabled over a week with the following allocation of subject hours over those two weeks:
