Key Stage 4

In Key Stage 4 students spend longer developing their love of learning and depth of subject knowledge in the courses they enjoy and will allow them to access future courses to fulfil their career aspirations.

In KS4 students continue to access 25 taught hours a week timetabled over a two week period. All students study English, Maths, Science, Physical Education and Personal Development (incorporating Citizenship, PHSE, RE and Careers advice), plus four subjects from our options block.

The following curriculum model shows the time allocated to each subject:

Most students will follow timetables which match the above and work towards nine GCSEs or equivalent. However, we strongly believe that students are entitled to access options which match their needs and interests so far as this is practicable to deliver within our schools’ resources. Students who choose vocational options which require more curriculum time may work towards eight accreditations in total.

Sample KS4 options choices:

We are currently going through the Options process with Year 9, a full list of subjects that the school is offering is shown below. Students are asked to pick four options with two reserve choices from which the blockings for the timetable will be created. All subjects offered in KS4 will have a pathway to KS5 progression within the school and/or the Trust.
