Clubs and Events

Board Games Club runs on Mondays from 3.15-4.10pm and is open to all students on a drop in basis. Students can play the games from school or bring in their own. This is run by Mrs Little.

Creative Writing club is held in the LRC, in conjunction with the English Department, on Tuesdays after school from 3.15pm-4:15pm. This is open to all year groups and students can sign up on the LRC notification board.

Home Learning club is held in the LRC on Thursdays after school and run by dedicated Achievement Support staff/ Teaching Assistants. Children are able to use the resources in the LRC, including computers, to complete homework, study and read.

Our Book ‘Swap Shop’ is also open at Friday Lunchtime, 1.25-2.05pm. Students are encouraged to bring in appropriate, good condition, second-hands books they no longer read and permanently swap them for another title from Mrs Little’s collection or with each other.

Sponsored Reads, creative Writing and reading competitions are held regularly in conjunction with events and holidays. As well as in-house competitions, Students are also offered the chance to enter Nation competitions, such as those offered by ‘Young Writers’ and run in conjunction with the English Department. See Mrs. Little or the notice board in the LRC for details of upcoming events and competitions.

Each year, Mrs Little is looking for dedicated students to become Pupil librarians. Applications are taken in the first month of the Autumn term and during this time, any student who wishes to apply, should ask Mrs Little for a form. They will be asked answer a couple of questions and to select which days and times (break/ lunch/ after school/ both) they are prepared to do. Librarians are then assigned based on availability and suitability and will be rotated on an October-February and Feb-July rota so that as many students as possible are given the opportunity as possible to participate.
